Lead actors announced for HBO’s The Last of Us series

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are working on The Last of Us series, and one of the most critical details is choosing the right cast that will live up to the expectations of the franchise's fans and properly portray the events on screen.

There was a rumor that Black actor Mahershala Ali would play Joel, which sparked a wave of negative comments and criticism, so HBO and Sony decided to immediately debunk it. Just a few hours later, the actors who are set to appear in the series were announced.

Pedro Pascal landed the role of Joel. The actor has starred in such films and shows as “The Mandalorian”, “Wonder Woman 1984”, “Game of Thrones”, and “Narcos”. The role of Ellie will be played by Bella Ramsey; the 17-year-old actress is best remembered by viewers of the series “Game of Thrones”, where she played the young but wise Lady Lyanna Mormont.

As a reminder, the pilot episode is being directed by Kantemir Balagov, known for the film “Beanpole”.
