Many were disappointed with the reveal of the latter, as they were expecting a full-fledged upgrade of the device. Right now, the community seems thrilled with the Steam Deck, although it might be wise to wait until comprehensive benchmarks and full tests of Valve’s handheld console arrive.
Gamers, fans, and enthusiasts have begun commenting on and comparing the two announcements, and amusing memes are popping up all over the web.
On Reddit, users adapted SEGA’s Genesis-era slogan: “Steam does what Nintendo doesn’t” (“Steam does what Nintendon't” mirroring “Genesis does what Nintendon't”), while Harddrive.net ran a satirical article titled “Valve Announces the Switch Pro”.
On Twitter, user MariosBestFriend36 writes:
“I’m so excited to finally play Hades at 60 fps on the go. That was impossible with the original Switch. Can’t wait to toss this outdated piece of junk in the trash once I upgrade!”
Meanwhile, the Steam Deck will be available in December.
