Genshin Impact players criticize developers for lack of generous gifts for the game's first anniversary

The developers of the popular action RPG will soon celebrate the first anniversary of its release. The community is dissatisfied with the gifts.

The developers of the free-to-play action RPG Genshin Impact will celebrate the first anniversary of the release next month.

A presentation of the upcoming update 2.1 was held recently, showcasing not only new features but also celebratory gifts.

Players will be able to receive a bonus for purchasing Genesis Crystals (premium currency), as well as up to 10 Intertwined Fates (attempts to “pull” something from the gacha).

Genshin Impact’s monetization is based on “gacha”: players receive attempts as rewards or purchase them with in-game currency or real money to try and randomly obtain something from the “gacha”.

The community reacted to the gifts: “Here are your 10 fates [pull attempts], and don’t forget to spend more money on the game.”

“I choked when I read this. ‘Here’s 15 crystals, don’t spend it all in one place’ xD”

“Bad rewards. I will take whatever I can get. I wish they [rewards] were more generous. The most painful thing is that the lantern rite [Lantern Rite, a past event in Genshin Impact] had more rewards than here [anniversary of the release].”

“Mihoyo is such a low-class company [acting petty], and not only with these rewards, but with fun/engaging gameplay content too.”

Some have already given up and cannot even get angry at the developers: “Yeah rewards are sh*t [bad], it sucks. Honestly at this point I just don’t care and don’t have the energy to get mad about this [such gifts], I’ll take whatever I can get and move on.”

“This is one of the worst anniversaries I have ever seen in gacha games. It is even more reprehensible because Genshin Impact is an extremely successful game. For an anniversary, these rewards are simply disgraceful.”

“[User speaking ‘on behalf of the developers’] ‘Thanks to players, we have won many awards and achieved tremendous success — all thanks to you. For a fantastic first year, here are fewer rewards than we gave during the Lantern Rite festival. Enjoy!’”

Overall, players note that the rewards are very modest. Not only in comparison with other games, but also compared to past events in Genshin Impact itself. It is possible that the developers simply did not want to spoil the surprise and have “not revealed all their cards” yet.
