Squid Game among us

Squid Game is the sensational South Korean series that became a hit for streaming service Netflix. Mobile game developers from the Benjihagames studio decided to strike while the iron is hot and announced the launch of user pre-registration for the new mobile game Among Squid Game, crossing the plot of “Squid Game” with the “space mafia” of Among Us.

It is not yet clear what the gameplay of the new title will look like. On the game's page on Google Play, the developers have outlined a “survival game” in online multiplayer featuring up to 50 players from around the world, “deadly traps”, and a chat where you can distract competitors so they don't make it to the finale alive.

Benjiha Games is a small South Korean studio whose portfolio includes several small mobile games that aren't particularly popular. Most likely, opening pre-registration for users is a way to gauge how interested players might be in such a project.

The visual style, just like the game's title, largely copies the indie hit Among Us by Innersloth. It remains unknown how the developers of that studio will react to such copying and whether such a project will be able to launch. It may be easier to influence the independent South Korean developers than their colleagues at Epic Games, who copied the gameplay mechanics of Among Us in their live-service game Fortnite.
