EA shares tumble following Battlefield 2042 beta criticism on Reddit

The Battlefield 2042 open beta has generally received favorable reviews, proving the game is ready for its official release. However, there are also “teething issues” that undermine the experience and indicate the shooter needs further polishing.

There is an audience voicing harsh criticism of the game on Reddit with memes, videos, and other similar content that influences how others perceive the game. These players even managed to bring Electronic Arts shares down by seven percentage points.

This occurred on Wednesday, October 6, following comments on Reddit by users who, although far outnumbered by positive opinions, garner more views and responses. 

Market analyst Doug Creutz analyzed the situation and reported that the stock rebounded by 2.6% the following day.

“On Reddit, negative opinions get more attention regardless of the game. Both the Battlefield subreddit and the Battlefield 2042 subreddit have plenty of posts with positive impressions.”
