Battlefield 2042 developers invite players to hunt satellites in new Hazard Zone mode. Players demand the removal of specialists

Battlefield 2042 developers have revealed the debut trailer for the new Hazard Zone mode. However, commenters are more interested in removing the specialists

DICE and Electronic Arts unveiled the debut trailer for Hazard Zone — a new mode in Battlefield 2042.

This multiplayer mode features 4-player squads. They attempt to retrieve as many data drives as possible from downed satellites scattered across the map and exit the combat area before a devastating storm covers everything.

Previous-generation PS4 and Xbox consoles will feature 6 squads (24 players), while PC, PS5, and Xbox Series will host 8 squads (32 players). All 7 Battlefield 2042 maps will be available for the mode.

Specialists in a squad cannot be duplicated. If a player dies in battle, they can be revived. To do this, players need to use reinforcement call devices scattered across the map.

In addition to rival players, AI-controlled forces are also present on the map.

For extracting drives and completing objectives, players will be rewarded with a currency specific to the Hazard Zone mode. Black Market Credits can be spent before a match to purchase weapons, gadgets, and various upgrades. If a player fails to extract, they will lose everything collected during the match.

Dataminers shared some details about this mode back in August.

Hazard Zone is not a free-to-play mode.

At the moment, the Hazard Zone mode trailer has gathered 61,000 likes. Notably, the comment: “Specialists should be removed from the main game [Battlefield 2042], they can stay in Hazard Zone” received 15,000 likes.

Instead of the familiar class system, Battlefield 2042 introduced specialists. Many criticized this system. Visually, they look the same regardless of the side of the conflict, which leads to bizarre situations.
