Hideo Kojima shared information about his work with followers on Twitter. As it turned out, his next project required reworking.
“I am reworking a project and script that I wrote almost a year ago. The situation in the world, my environment, and emotions last year and now are completely different, so I cannot put myself in the same world I was thinking of back then. I have to bring it [the project] into the present. If I don’t, it won’t become alive [won't become a reality].”
Nothing is known yet about the Japanese game designer’s next project. Rumors suggest it could be an episodic horror game created in collaboration with Microsoft.
It is worth noting that Kojima's tweet was reposted by William Gibson, the author of the novel “Neuromancer”; for him, this (the changed world situation) is also relevant. Gibson is considered the founder of the cyberpunk genre.
