Developers shared details about Minecraft Legends and showed new footage

The creators of Minecraft Legends explained in a video why the game has such a subtitle. The action is assumed to take place in the distant past. Such a legend could be true, but for the most part, it is merely lore.

The main antagonistic force in Minecraft Legends will be Piglins, mobs that inhabit the Nether in the current version of Minecraft. The authors say:

“We imagined Piglins as players know them now in Minecraft. And we wondered what they would look like at the height of their power.”

The video also shows that several small teams in Stockholm and Redmond have been working on Minecraft Legends since 2018. As a reminder, the game was announced in early June 2022 during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase.

Minecraft Legends will be released in 2023 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Minecraft Legends at launch.
