EA unveiled FIFA 23 featuring women and next-gen pricing on PC — and immediately blocked it on Russian Steam

It was previously revealed that the heavily promoted women's football feature in FIFA 22 is of interest to only a small fraction of the game's audience

Electronic Arts has traditionally unveiled its new football simulator, FIFA 23. Part of the trailer's runtime was dedicated to women's football (judging by FIFA 22, it is of interest to only a small fraction of the audience).

The FIFA 23 page has already been blocked on Russian Steam, yet it is fully translated into Russian, and text translation into this language is officially listed.

Among the key features of FIFA 23, the following were highlighted:

  • HyperMotion2 Technology: gameplay is set to become more realistic “thanks to twice as much real-world motion data capture”, with mentions of over 6,000 animations crafted from “millions of frames of advanced 11v11 match capture”.
  • FIFA World Cup.
  • FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.
  • Women's football: women's club football will reportedly make its debut in FIFA 23.

It is worth noting that on PC for FIFA 23, Electronic Arts decided to set a next-gen price tag (+$10 over the base price):

It turns out that FIFA 23 will be the last “FIFA from EA”, as the football simulation series will receive a new name due to the expiration of the license.
