Ubisoft is expected to release a new Assassin's Creed game in 2023. At the same time, according to reports, the project codenamed AC Rift will be smaller in scale. It will serve as a stopgap release ahead of a full-fledged new installment in the series.
Blogger j0nathan shared details about Ubisoft's new game, titled Assassin's Creed Mirage.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is expected to launch in spring 2023. The game will be set in Baghdad, and the protagonist will be Basim (a character from AC Valhalla). There will be no massive open world. AC Mirage’s gameplay is expected to be closer to the original games in the series.
Dialogue wheel choices and RPG progression might be dropped. The “traditional” Eagle Vision will return, and the hero won't have a companion bird.
The announcement of Assassin's Creed Mirage may take place in September.
In addition, it is claimed that a remake of the original Assassin's Creed is currently in development. It is being built using AC Mirage as a foundation. The game will reportedly be included in the Season Pass.
Journalist Jason Schreier partially corroborated the blogger's claims: “A person familiar tells me parts of this new Assassin's Creed leak are true (such as the name and the other things Bloomberg already reported: spring 23, Baghdad, back to AC basics) and other parts are not ("multiple cities to explore")”.
Schreier doubts that Assassin's Creed Mirage will receive DLC, since (according to his information) the game itself originated as a DLC.
