Splatoon 3 shows an incredible start. The game has become the fastest-selling for Switch in Japan

On September 9, one of Nintendo’s biggest autumn games, Splatoon 3, was released. Since its debut on the Wii U, the Splatoon franchise has been a massive success for the company, becoming its best-selling new IP to date.

The previous game in the franchise, Splatoon 2, sold over 13.3 million copies, which is twice the sales of the original.

Splatoon 3 has already broken franchise records, becoming the fastest-selling entry in the series in Japan. A Nintendo press release states that Splatoon 3 sold over 3.45 million copies in its home country in three days.

Splatoon 3 not only surpassed Splatoon 2 sales in Japan, but also became the fastest-selling Switch game in the country, overtaking Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

At the time of writing, sales figures for other countries have not yet been released.
