Call of Duty will be released on PlayStation without Game Pass. Phil Spencer denies using sneaky tricks

There is a concern that Call of Duty will become an Xbox console exclusive or continue releasing on PlayStation, but in return Sony will have to make concessions on certain matters

The multinational company Microsoft is trying to acquire Activision Blizzard. The deal is attracting a lot of attention, as there is a risk that after the deal closes, the popular Call of Duty will leave PlayStation.

A situation might also arise where Call of Duty continues to be released on PlayStation, but under certain conditions: Microsoft would require Sony, for example, to allow the Xbox Game Pass subscription and streaming onto its consoles.

Xbox head Phil Spencer attempted to dispel such concerns: “Native Call of Duty on PlayStation, not linked to having to have Game Pass, not streaming. If they want a streaming version of Call of Duty we could also do that, just like we do on [Xbox]. There's no nothing hidden….”.

Earlier, Phil Spencer compared the Call of Duty franchise to Minecraft. After the acquisition of Mojang, the sandbox wasn't “locked up” on Xbox, meaning CoD will supposedly continue to be distributed across different platforms and expand the franchise's presence.
