CD Projekt confirmed that the Witcher 1 remake will be released after Witcher 4. When will this happen

The CEO of CD Projekt confirmed that the remake of the first The Witcher will be released only after the start of the new trilogy, tentatively called The Witcher 4. It will serve as a technological foundation following the studio's transition to the Unreal Engine.

A similar statement was made back in October, but there was no clarification at the time. Now, during a conference call with investors following the publication of the latest financial results, the company's head Adam Kicinski clarified:

“Returning to the topic of the release of The Witcher remake: yes, it will come out after Polaris, which will be a derivative of our thoughts on this project. I think that the remake will be largely based on the Polaris technology, so it will be created partially in parallel. When Polaris is released, all elements of the game will be in their final form and can be used in the remake.”

Polaris is the code name for the tentative fourth installment of the series. Specific dates are unknown, but two months ago, during the announcement of new projects, Kicinski was asked whether it could be assumed that work on Polaris would take more than three years. He nodded, so it can be assumed to be around 2025–26.

The remake will come next. How long will this work take? It is unknown, but work will begin even before the release of Polaris. One could suggest 2027–28, but these are only assumptions.
