The updated version of The Witcher 3 had a very successful start on Metacritic. The game scored 97 out of 100 points, which secured it the title of the best game of 2022 (if choosing by Metacritic score).
However, the remaster of The Witcher 3 was released and additional reviews appeared. The score of CD Projekt RED's old-new game was slightly spoiled.
The Witcher 3 lost 1 point and is now content with 96 points. This small rating change now forces it to share the title of the “best” in 2022 with the Portal Companion Collection compilation for Nintendo Switch and two versions of Elden Ring for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Places 5 to 7 went to Persona 5 Royal for PC, Xbox Series X, and Switch. In 8th place is Elden Ring for PC, in 9th place is God of War Ragnarok for PS5, and Dwarf Fortress for PC rounds out the top ten.
