Phil Spencer takes blame for the lack of games on Xbox

2022 was a good year for Xbox. 2023 is expected to be good as well, but now with new games included

Xbox fans haven’t had new games in quite some time. Everything could change in 2023, with releases of new full-fledged games expected.

The recent Hi-Fi Rush came as a pleasant surprise to some. It allowed the Xbox division to show that it is capable of launching new games rather than just making promises and urging fans to wait a bit longer. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer did not rule out that they might organize another surprise release like that.

Phil Spencer took the blame for the lack of games last year: “Our commitment to our fans is that we need to have a steady release of great games that people can play on our platform, and we didn’t do enough of that in 2022, there’s no doubt. And fundamentally, that’s on me. I’m the head of the [Xbox] business.”

Currently, the number of Game Pass subscribers is at an all-time high, and the service continues to grow. Nonetheless, it does not always reach the targets set by Microsoft (which are, on the whole, quite ambitious).

Forza Motorsport is planned for release in 2023, with the exact date to be specified closer to launch.

The studio 343 Industries is the “heart and soul of Halo.” Phil Spencer is confident in the team and its plans.

Phil Spencer is watching the HBO series The Last of Us — he likes it. He hopes that the Halo series will be able to achieve a similar result.

Microsoft intends to do everything possible to make E3 a success. It is not yet known whether the multinational company will participate in the expo.

Phil Spencer remains confident that they will be able to acquire Activision Blizzard.

At the moment, the next major Xbox presentation is planned for June. A standalone event is planned for Starfield.
