Free-to-play shooter The Finals from former Battlefield series head has a chance to become a hit

It seems the free-to-play shooter The Finals has great potential. This conclusion can be drawn from the large number of players who showed interest in the recently launched closed beta test. But that is not the only argument

On the first day, The Finals peaked at 13,311 concurrent players. This result was achieved during a closed beta test, which users can apply for on the , though the developers are not sending invitations to everyone interested.

The game is being praised for its dynamic gunplay and impressive environmental destruction system. For example, building walls can be blown up.

Currently, the game has plenty of bugs: sometimes projectiles deal no damage, there are issues with animation smoothness, and so on, but most players view The Finals as an enjoyable game.

The Finals is being developed by Embark Studios, founded by former DICE head and Battlefield series lead Patrick Söderlund. He is known for the phrase: “accept our vision, or don’t buy Battlefield 5”. Two months later, Söderlund left the company.

Beta testing is taking place on PC and will run until March 21. The release date is still unknown, but rumors suggest the game will arrive in late 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
