Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't like Xbox. Developers don't want to compromise

At the moment, Baldur's Gate 3 has received a release date on only two platforms: PC and PlayStation 5. The studio confirmed that there will be a release on Xbox Series, but owners of the platform will have to be patient.

Larian Studios head Swen Vincke said in an interview:

“You will play it on Xbox. You need to be patient, it is only a matter of time.”

What waiting period are we talking about? The team's ambitious plan is to release the game in 2023. The developers are still working through issues with split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S.

“The game gives you a lot of freedom. The ability to create all this madness requires decent optimization. On some platforms, everything runs more smoothly.”

“We try to be very restrained in terms of any compromises. That is one of the reasons why this is taking us so long.”

The head of the studio admitted that work on resolving the issue should go more smoothly than before. The game is already practically finished, so the developers can focus on fine optimization.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on PC on August 3, and on PS5 on September 6.
