It looks like Payday 3 will require a constant server connection, meaning there will be no offline game mode. The release is scheduled for September 21.
As expected, the community erupted. A significant portion of players is unhappy with the prospect of Payday 3 being tied to an online connection (the series previously featured offline options).
Such a system has substantial downsides: if the servers crash or are shut down, players will not be able to play what they purchased. Questions also arise regarding mod support.
It is currently unknown whether an offline mode will appear in Payday 3 or if the community backlash will lead to no changes. Recently, fans became furious over a Payday 2 update (Epic Games services were involved). Starbreeze Studios has drawn the wrath of the community once again.
