Leak from Microsoft documents. First details about next-generation Xbox: hybrid platform, release year, plans

Microsoft representatives seem to be facing a serious headache today due to the leak of internal documents concerning various devices and technologies. Few could have expected the very first details about the next-generation Xbox to emerge.

Engineers are developing a “hybrid platform” — the new in-home device will harness the power of the “cloud” for “deeper immersion and totally new classes of game experiences.”

“Develop a next generation hybrid game platform capable of leveraging the combined power of the client and cloud to deliver deeper immersion and entirely new classes of game experiences. Optimized for real-time game play and creators, we will enable new levels of performance beyond the capabilities of the client’s hardware alone.”

The documents describe “key technological enablers” to realize this vision – “cohesive hybrid compute”, “performance, operations, and development optimization and acceleration for players and creators”. The platform will be “open and flexible” so that development teams can build new projects as quickly as possible.

According to the published information, the next-generation Xbox will feature AMD’s latest architectures (Zen 6, NAVI 5), next-generation ray tracing, and a number of advanced solutions. The console is most likely expected to launch in 2028.
