Warhammer 40,000: Darktide runs on XSX at 864p. How do Xbox consoles “handle” a game for demanding PCs?

Digital Foundry tested the console release of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, asking the question—how do Microsoft consoles cope with a game built for demanding PCs?

On the one hand, the game works, and players can participate in bloody battles full of beasts, but it is worth noting that performance mode delivers 60 fps gameplay at a dynamic resolution – averaging just 846p. In quality mode, you can count on a maximum of 1368p.

The British specialists also examined the Xbox Series S version, which features a 30 fps mode that seems well thought out, especially considering that even in this option the game runs at a resolution around 720p. It is hard to imagine how severely a 60 fps target would compromise image quality.

In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on Xbox Series X, the frame rate sits at 55–60 fps (performance mode) and a nearly solid 30 fps (quality mode), while on Xbox Series S you can expect 30 fps with occasional drops to 26–28 frames per second.
