Cities Skylines 2 turned out to be 12+ times larger than the original

Cities Skylines returns in sequel form. Paradox Interactive made it clear that even without mods, the game will consume plenty of resources beyond just RAM

Paradox Interactive recently confirmed the impressive size of Cities Skylines 2. The sequel to the city-building simulator will be very heavy.

Judging by the system requirements, Cities Skylines 2 will take up around 50 GB (or even 60 GB), while the original takes only 4 GB. This means the difference in size is 12+ times, but there is a nuance.

In practice, things are a bit more modest, but still impressive: as of October 2023, the first Cities Skylines requires just over 15 GB upon installation, which translates to a 3+ fold difference. On the other hand, it is  definitely known that the sequel’s map (total playable area) will be five times larger.
