The game has returned to sale on the Epic Games Store, where it was originally available, and has also appeared on Steam. As it turned out, the reason for the game’s mysterious disappearance was a lawsuit filed by the creators of the tabletop game Paranoia against the developers of the computer adaptation.
Delays in the game’s planned release led to it ultimately coming out after the license had expired, but the developers at Black Shamrock studio released it for sale without renewing the contract. In addition, the creators of the original were outraged by the dubious technical state of the game. They explained that in terms of bugs and shortcomings, the final product was no different from the pre-release version shown to them.
The product was deemed to be at a level that was “far below market standards” and offered only an “inconsistent or poor user experience.” The tabletop game’s creators further justified their lawsuit by citing fears of “damaging the reputation of the 'Paranoia' brand.” But in the end, a settlement was reached, and the dispute between the developers of the two versions of the game was resolved in court. Although details remain undisclosed, one of the provisions of the court ruling allowed the game to be put back on sale.
However, judging by the sparse reviews, the game’s technical state has not improved much.
