Rumor: cutting-edge neural networks used for GTA 6 development, Rockstar to introduce detailed interiors and NPCs

Many developers use neural networks in their work. Grand Theft Auto 6 researchers are having certain suspicions regarding the creative process at Rockstar Games

While awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6, fans aren’t sitting idly by; instead, they are scouring the internet and the game’s trailer in search of clues. Lately, rumors about the potential use of neural networks in development have grown more frequent.

Patents from Take-Two, the publisher of GTA 6, have sparked speculation about integrating cutting-edge technologies into Rockstar Games’ workflows. For instance, procedural generation could be used to create interiors (it is assumed that rooms would have a sort of “common layout” with some swappable objects/elements), and these interiors would not reset immediately after the player leaves them.

Another scenario being considered involves AI-driven NPCs: “responses” could be generated for characters, and they might react appropriately to the environment (for example, performing specific actions when it rains).
