Game director Gabe Amatangelo stated in an interview:
“Yes, we’re done [working on Cyberpunk 2077]. It’s possible that there’s some little other thing that comes in, just because, as you’re messing around with stuff, sometimes you discover something that is not a high risk. Or it’s easy to integrate. Or, you know, some developers have some bandwidth [for it – ed.]. Then they bring it to me. And I say: ‘Alright, well, I trust you, if it’s not going to mess up your other work... let’s give it a go.’”
The CD Projekt RED representative did not acknowledge this openly, but it seems developers may be testing various “little things” in Cyberpunk 2077 that could later be used in the studio’s next game. During the interview, Amatangelo admitted that when he assumed his role at the studio, he granted the developers more freedom while working on Phantom Liberty.
