The creators of the Russian MMO shooter PIONER continue to communicate with the community. A recent post is dedicated to the outpost system.
The concept of outposts in games eventually turned into a real meme because of Ubisoft — the French company began inserting them into games very frequently. This started happening so often that it became the subject of numerous jokes (moreover, it so happens that juggernauts are found at these outposts — very tanky enemies that Ubisoft also actively uses in its games).
The PIONER team clearly took this into account, and therefore, during the presentation of their outpost system, they decided to clarify something right away:
“Outposts, but without juggernauts.
Prior to your arrival, several Soviet expeditions had already traversed Tartarus. Research teams built mobile posts and resource storage facilities for their needs. Now all of this has sunk into the void, and to conquer the will of the island, you will have to restore what was lost.
Expedition Outposts are special points in the open worlds of PIONER within which a player can establish their local base. Once restored, outposts can be upgraded, turning them into trading or resource hubs. For example, at outposts you can store resources or set up a workbench or a courier. Upgrading outposts allows you to send new caravans and gain trade advantages.”
