“You are a poisonous potato”: Minecraft received a truly potato-filled April Fools’ update

Rather quickly, Minecraft got a whole lot of potatoes. The developers celebrated April 1 in a big way

Mojang unveiled a joke update for Minecraft for April Fools’ Day (and quite extensive in terms of content). On April Fools’ Day, something akin to an era of potatoes arrived in the blocky sandbox.

It is potatoes that became the theme for the April Fools’ Minecraft update (these spuds come with a twist — they are poisonous).

After installing the “potato update”, Minecraft players will be able to journey into a true potato dimension, the “Poisonous Potato Dimension”, as well as encounter poisonous potatoes. In this dimension, there exists a potato peeler (and other no less remarkable items).

There will be an opportunity to explore several potato biomes and trace the lifecycle of a potato: from coming into the world as a tuber harvested from a field to being cooked into a hash brown (a type of potato pancake). The local weather effects in the potato dimension should also surprise travelers.

A series of promotional images showcasing the content was released, featuring new potato-themed blocks as well as a frying table.
