Developer cuts mention of “toxic” Russian localization from English Steam announcement. Peculiarities of Roboquest patches

Some users are not thrilled about the presence of Russian localization, creating problems for game ratings on Steam. At times, creators prefer not to take unnecessary risks

The developers of Roboquest translated the game into Russian and also release patches whose descriptions receive localization. However, these announcements in the Steam community have a notable peculiarity.

Users noticed that the creators of Roboquest recently published the post “Arsenal Update Changelog”: its content differs slightly for Russian-speaking and English-speaking users. This “change” concerns one specific line regarding the game’s translation.

Upon a direct comparison of the posts, it is easy to notice that under the Interface section, the English announcement lists 3 items, whereas the Russian one clearly has one more — a fourth entry appears: “The translation into Russian is being gradually polished. Making the text more concise and engaging!”. The remaining items in the announcement by Roboquest creators did not vanish (they report on translations into Dutch, Farsi, etc.).

Lately, some particularly active Steam users have been harassing developers for adding “toxic” Russian localization. It is assumed that this “linguistic nuance” in announcements is an attempt to lower the community’s temperature.
