Dying Light 2 received nightmare difficulty and improved cutscenes

Dying Light 2 Stay Human Reloaded Edition sparked controversy at launch. Techland is gradually refining and expanding the game

Dying Light 2 Stay Human Reloaded Edition continues to get better. Techland recently unveiled update 1.16, featuring a new difficulty level and a rebalanced night.

Dying Light 2 now features a Nightmare difficulty level, with some of its features detailed below:

  • A fifth chase level appears
  • Opening the menu no longer pauses the game, meaning crafting happens in real time (though it was noted that the pause menu functions as usual).
  • Health no longer regenerates automatically.
  • Stamina regenerates more slowly.
  • Reduced armor and resistance for the player character.
  • Survivor Sense only reveals weapons and quest items.
  • The flashlight dims and can flicker out with continuous use.
  • Booster effectiveness is reduced.

For completing the game (or New Game+) on Nightmare difficulty, players will be rewarded with the Waltz outfit, here is what it looks like (the video contains spoilers): https://youtu.be/ZvM_ajitrHQ

The creators of Dying Light 2 also made changes to the night: the number of Volatiles was reduced (mostly on rooftops), and they were weakened, for instance, their field of view was reduced from 100 to 90 degrees; the hearing range of the player's footsteps for Biters is now smaller, as is the visibility of the flashlight. Some other infected were also tweaked.

Cutscenes have been improved: over 70 scenes and dialogues were updated (changes were made to lighting, animations, etc.).

A new inventory mechanic was introduced: players can now create loadouts and switch between them.
