Circana analysts: PlayStation Portal demand exceeds supply in the US

The PlayStation Portal is selling better than expected in the US, with demand consistently outpacing supply practically since launch. This information was shared by Mat Piscatella, head of Circana (formerly NPD Group).

The analyst wrote on Twitter:

“I cannot disclose the number of units sold, but demand has exceeded PlayStation Portal availability for several months now, and honestly, it is doing better than I expected. So kudos to Sony. Of course, we are not talking crazy numbers, but it is still very good nonetheless.”

As Mat Piscatella noted, PlayStation Portal sales are not extraordinary in absolute terms: they do not come close to the sales of the PS5, which has sold 59.3 million units worldwide.

Despite this, Piscatella’s statements confirm that the Portal is managing to carve out its own slice of the market and meet the demands of an audience that wants to play PlayStation 5 remotely.
