Dragon Quest 12 will honor the memory of two departed legends

The Dragon Quest series is celebrating its 38th anniversary, but aside from the announcement of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, Square Enix made no reveals, sparking concern among fans waiting for news on Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate.

Announced in May 2021, Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate remains a major mystery, eagerly anticipated due to the franchise’s popularity and a special sense of responsibility. It is the final project in the series to feature contributions, in one way or another, from composer Koichi Sugiyama and illustrator Akira Toriyama.

This is precisely what Yuji Horii, creator of Dragon Quest and the sole remaining member of the series’ legendary creative trio, addressed in a recent post on the social network X:

“Thank you all for your congratulatory messages. There has been a lot of concern about the state of Dragon Quest 12, but in fact, I just had a meeting about it. I cannot reveal details yet, but we want to make a game worthy of the final contributions of the two people who passed away. I am doing my best!”

Horii is thus attempting to reassure Dragon Quest fans, as the absence of news regarding Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate had raised fears that the game might have been canceled.
