The Alkahest trailer recently premiered. It is an action RPG evocative of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
The presentation of Alkahest certainly drew a lot of attention, but a somewhat concerning trend has emerged — due to the impressive and “slick” trailer, some players have started recalling The Day Before. Back then, the developers also showcased impressive, highly polished promotional materials, but in practice, the game turned out to be of poor quality and vastly different from what could have been expected after watching the videos.
During conversations on Discord and with PC Gamer, the Alkahest developers confirmed that this video is a pre-render, created in the game’s engine and uses assets taken directly from it:
“We took extra care to make sure the trailer captured the feel of the game well. And we hope that later, when we show more details of the game, you will see this for yourselves :)
The assets from the trailer are in the game. But some [camera] angles and animations were made specifically for the trailer, for the sake of spectacle.”
