Dying Light 2 developers suffered record losses in 2023

Techland's latest results following the acquisition of the renowned Polish developer by Chinese giant Tencent (estimated by analysts at around $1.5 billion) are not the best.

A year ago, Techland reported high revenues and a net profit of $189 million. But the 2023 result is much worse.

In 2023, Techland suffered the biggest losses in the company’s history. Techland’s revenue fell from $308 million to $57.9 million in 2023. The company concluded all of 2023 with an operating loss of $22.7 million.

However, the company’s management views the situation positively, stating that these are merely temporary difficulties associated with investments in new projects. Cumulative expenses on Techland’s new project, a major open-world fantasy role-playing game, have already amounted to around $24.4 million. The company stated that the goal — is to create an original game with new gameplay elements.
