Valve banned bot hosters in Team Fortress 2, and in response they created a petition to save the game and are targeting real players

The battle for Team Fortress 2's integrity has entered a new phase. Disgruntled bad actors have attempted a counterattack.

Passions continue to run high on the battlefields of Team Fortress 2. For years, this free-to-play game has suffered from cheaters and bots.

Enthusiasts organized the “SaveTF2” campaign to reach Valve. In the end, they were finally heard, and many bots were banned in Team Fortress 2. You can still encounter them in the game, but their population has been significantly reduced.

The story of the fight against bots in Team Fortress 2 took an unexpected continuation, as the perpetrators struck back. Bot hosters themselves created a petition to save the game—their campaign is disguised as “SaveTF2”, and potential victims are invited to sign it to bring Valve's attention to the game's issues and ultimately get rid of bots.

In this way, they attempt to extract personal data from less cautious Team Fortress 2 fans.

More vigilant members of the Team Fortress 2 community urge players to exercise caution and avoid following suspicious links, including under the pretext of “saving the game”.
