“Now you wish I directed”: Uwe Boll mocked the disastrous Borderlands adaptation, while gamers reminded him of Alone in the Dark and more

A well-known specialist in video game film adaptations took note of what the creators of the Borderlands movie produced and shared his thoughts.

The movie based on the Borderlands franchise recently premiered. Many critics and viewers were far from thrilled with what the creators delivered. This take received scathing reviews, and in terms of opening box office numbers, the film is not doing very well.

Legendary director Uwe Boll, famous for his peculiar cinematic adaptations of video game franchises, took note of the Borderlands movie and decided to speak out:

“Haha. My movies were rated R and made more money than this. Now you wish I directed [video game adaptations]”.

Commenters were quick to remind him of his past work and its “outstanding” financial results:

“House of the Dead — 5.5 million opening, 13.8M total [budget estimated at $12M]

Alone in the Dark — 2.8M opening, 12.6M total [budget $20M]

Bloodrayne — 1.5M opening, 3.6M total [budget $25M]

Dungeon Siege [In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale] — 3.2M opening, 13M total [budget $60M]”
