A new gamer phobia. Fans are concerned about the fate of Steam after the death of Gabe Newell

An anonymous user on 4Chan shared a post that instilled a new fear in the hearts of many gamers. They wondered what could go wrong with Steam after the death of Gabe Newell.

Gabe is 61 years old, and the user believes that he will most likely die before reaching 75. Immediately after his death, a power vacuum will emerge, and that will likely be a disaster.

Valve’s new CEO could very well take a different approach than Gabe, which could dismantle much of what was established under the current leader. The user even suggested the introduction of ads on Steam, which would probably turn into a catastrophe.

Eventually, fans would abandon Steam, forcing the CEO to change monetization methods, which would ultimately hurt indie developers. The anonymous user mentioned that this is their genuine fear, and many users agreed with them.

Gamers claim that a new phobia has been unlocked for them. Gabe does not completely control the PC gaming market, but he plays a massive role in it. Thanks to him, many gamers reject third-party launchers in favor of Steam.
