Another Warner Bros. live-service failure? Quidditch Champions starts twice as poorly as Suicide Squad

Various publishers are attempting to secure a successful live-service game in their portfolio. Following Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League came the release of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was recently released on consoles and PC on Steam. Judging by the available data, the launch has not been very successful.

The peak concurrent player count for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on Steam reached 6,574 players and dropped to around 2,000–2,300 a few days later. For comparison, the previously released live-service game Squad Kill the Justice League had a peak of 13,459.

In both cases, Warner Bros. Games acted as the publisher, which does not sell games in Russia. Meanwhile, those who purchased the games bypassing sanctions are facing issues— they are unable to connect to the servers from the Russian Federation.

There are plans to support Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions; the developers have prepared a roadmap—seasons and themed events are expected.

The user rating for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on Steam is 80% after more than 1,500 reviews, ranking as “Very Positive”.
