In October 2024, the game Gothic 3 turns 18. The project receives “mixed” reviews from members of the “Gothic” fan community—not everyone liked what the developers offered.
For many, a “traumatic memory” of Gothic 3 is the boars—at launch, they turned out to be deadly enemies that mercilessly slaughtered players.
The birthday of “Gothic 3” was celebrated in the official Gothic Game community on VK:
“Today Gothic 3 turns 18!
Coming of age brings new opportunities, offering the freedom to explore even more places than before. And we haven’t forgotten you, because you still keep us on our toes.
Happy Birthday to a classic that is now all grown up.”
One commenter expressed the opinion that Gothic 3 is an underrated legend; Max Rodman joined the discussion and stated: “many don’t see it as a good game, but for me, the patched 3rd installment stands on the same level as parts 1 and 2.”
Some still dislike the game; for instance, Clover Craft recalled what he experienced during the release of Gothic 3: “How eagerly I waited for it back then, but got total disappointment; it was no longer the same Gothic and horribly broken upon release on top of that.”
