DOOM 3 stirred mixed reactions among players. Far from everyone embraced the developers' new vision. One enthusiast decided to assemble his own game, staying true to the spirit of the early installments.

Recently, a somewhat landmark release took place  — the DOOM III modification was released. This is a fan sequel mod for the classic shooter DOOM 2, which was in development for about 11 years.

DOOM 2 turned 30 in 2024 — thanks to the work of a modder going by the handle Camaxide, fans now have the opportunity to experience an alternative version of the series' continuation.

The enthusiast offers two new chapters, several levels, a cooperative mode, and 36 new tracks. Over 20 hours of gameplay are promised, as well as achievements and collectibles.

The mod “Doom III (Doom II Mod)” has been released publicly on ModDB. Running the modification requires GZDoom version 4.12.0 or higher.
