Did Ubisoft manage to improve Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for PS5 Pro? Update testing

The first dedicated version of Avatar for the new console looked worse than on the standard PS5 — it was a failure for Ubisoft and a blow to the reputation of the PS5 Pro. Let's see if the situation has changed.

Previously, graphical issues with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on PS5 Pro were reported. Ubisoft promised to release an update, and these files have already arrived.

The update allows disabling PSSR upscaling, which was previously impossible on PS5 Pro. It is also now possible to enable 30 fps and 40 fps modes.

However, this remains only a partial fix. PSSR is still inferior to standard FSR 3 in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The GamingTech editorial team notes that FSR 3 only loses to PSSR during fast camera movements. But the overall image instability with PSSR enabled has barely changed, manifesting, for example, as severe flickering.

What about performance? “Nothing has changed here,” states GamingTech. The game on PS5 Pro still drops frames at the targeted 60 fps, just like on PS5.
