Streamer Shroud considers The Game Awards “rigged” after Astro Bot wins over Black Myth: Wukong

Streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek criticized The Game Awards 2024, claiming the event was “rigged.” The reason was Astro Bot’s victory in the Game of the Year category.

Shroud previously stated that if Black Myth: Wukong did not win GOTY, it would prove the event was rigged. After the results were announced, he reaffirmed his stance, calling the organizers’ choice unfair.

Many players agreed with the streamer’s remarks, suggesting that the jury’s decision could have been influenced by funding or other factors. Some expressed the opinion that Astro Bot’s victory might have been paid for by Sony.

Fans are criticizing the current voting system, believing that viewers should have a greater influence on the results. Despite the disappointment of Black Myth: Wukong fans, many supported Astro Bot’s win, calling it “charming and creative.”

Although debates continue, the award has already been handed out, and Black Myth: Wukong fans are left to enjoy the game and its achievements. The question of the integrity of The Game Awards jury remains open.
