Star Citizen executives fired, push to accelerate long-delayed space sim's release underway — insider

It seems that regular players are not the only ones eager to see the release version of the space sim Star Citizen 1.0.

The ambitious space simulator Star Citizen has been in development for many years. The developers continue to attract new investments, yet there is still no sign of the long-awaited version 1.0 release.

Insider Tom Henderson recently shared what is going on at Cloud Imperium Games. According to his sources, significant changes have occurred in leadership: “several top-level executives have been let go, while others were reassigned to different positions.” At least three veteran managers were dismissed.

In an internal announcement to staff, Chris Roberts explained it as follows:

“To achieve our goal [of releasing Squadron 42 and Star Citizen 1.0], it is more important than ever to ensure we have high-performing and effective teams working across the company. To accomplish this, I had to make changes to our team structures, starting from the very top of the company on down, to ensure we have the right people in the right roles [...] in our most important year.”

Some employees believe that this change is ultimately aimed at cutting costs rather than meeting deadlines.
