PlayStation invites to Bungie. Looking for gamers without work experience, but with Escape from Tarkov background

Bungie, the studio behind Marathon, has posted an unusual job opening: they are looking for a gameplay analyst who does not necessarily have AAA development experience, but must be a seasoned shooter player.

Bungie is going through tough times. Following the decline in Destiny 2's popularity, PlayStation has been tightening control over the studio, redirecting employees to new projects. Against the backdrop of Concord's failure and internal struggles, Bungie wants Marathon to become a successful project by bringing dedicated gamer fans onto the team.

Candidate requirements:

  • 200+ hours in Escape from Tarkov or similar games.
  • Active play in ranked modes of Call of Duty Warzone, Apex Legends, or Rainbow Six: Siege.
  • Ability to record feedback videos and explain observations in detail.
  • Critical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

Bungie expects that experienced players will be able to identify weaknesses and improve Marathon's gameplay, ensuring the highest possible quality. However, the approach has sparked debate: some believe that if the studio is still looking for such specialists, the project might not launch in 2025 with the expected level of quality.

The future of Marathon largely depends on the engagement of new team members and their expertise. This is a rare opportunity for gamers to contribute to the development of a major project.
