The Simpsons: Tapped Out servers officially shut down after 13 years of operation

The mobile gaming market can be both a gold mine and a ruthless battlefield. If a game loses popularity, it is easier to shut it down than to maintain it. This is precisely the fate that befell The Simpsons: Tapped Out, which lasted for nearly 13 years.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out was launched in 2012 and brought joy to fans of the famous animated series for almost 13 years. As the longest-running animated franchise in history, “The Simpsons” deserves a worthy video game, but Tapped Out became the only major project fans received in recent years.

The game’s servers have been shut down, depriving over 80 million users of the opportunity to play — that is how many players the mobile game had accumulated by 2020. Many fans said goodbye to the game by crafting commemorative buildings and characters, or simply by sharing memories.
