In March 2025, fans celebrate the 15th anniversary of Metro 2033. In honor of this milestone, enthusiasts from 3 Game Studio decided to release a major modification for the shooter, Metro Repair 2009.
The Metro Repair 2009 mod does not affect the gameplay of Metro 2033, but instead restores various in-game content and moments that could be seen on posters and early beta screenshots, such as:
- Artyom’s hands were taken from build 375;
- Night has fallen on the “Alley” and “Library” levels, with weather restored from the game demo featured in GamePlay magazine when Andrey Prokhorov showed an early version of “Metro 2033” on a monitor;
- Right at the beginning of the prologue, if you press the blast door button and do nothing, Miller will get angry;
- On the “VDNKh” level and up to the chapter “8 Days Earlier”, Artyom’s bearded stepfather can be observed;
- The gunsmith at VDNKh has been revamped, and a new line about the knife has been restored;
- Dialogue lines on the “Catacombs” level and in the tunnel to Kievskaya have also been restored;
- At Turgenevskaya, one of the soldiers who appeared on one of the 2008–2009 posters has been transformed;
- A new appearance for the fellow traveler from around 2009;
- Boris reacts to Artyom’s shots if he fires aimlessly;
