Mods turned GTA V into a next-gen game. For a moment, you can forget about “the six”

The release of GTA VI is still a long way off, but fans of the series have found a way to pass the wait. Thanks to new mods, the good old GTA V looks as though it was just released on current-gen consoles.

The Digital Dreams team has published fresh gameplay in 4K, showing how much the game has transformed with the CoreFx and Lively World mods. The first mod introduces improved lighting effects, sharp shadows, and realistic reflections, while the second fills the world with life: more traffic, dynamic NPC behavior, subtle animations, and a detailed environment. All of this turns Los Santos into a dynamic, almost lifelike city.

The mods were originally created for the standard version of the game, but they now also work with the Enhanced Edition.

Importantly, all of this runs stably for owners of high-performance PCs. This makes GTA V a great option for those tired of waiting for the sixth installment. And the wait will be long: Rockstar recently confirmed a new release date for GTA VI — May 26, 2026.
