In May 2025, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt turns 10 years old. The developers are celebrating this milestone and sharing various details about the project.
This time, CD Projekt RED decided to share what The Witcher 3 was called internally during the game's development:
“The internal codename for The Witcher 3 that we used during development was R4 LAVA
R4 referred to the game itself, while LAVA described the powerhouse engine behind it — the red-hot technology powering Geralt of Rivia’s adventures.”
