The US and China have reached an agreement on tariffs. What does this mean for gamers and the PC component market?

PC owners and gamers have reason for optimism: the US and China have entered into a temporary trade agreement that directly affects the computer hardware market. Previously, tariffs on Chinese components reached 145%, impacting hardware prices and hindering stable supplies.

Now, according to a statement from US authorities, tariffs have been temporarily reduced to 30%. This decision will remain in effect for 90 days, giving manufacturers and suppliers a chance to streamline logistics and ease price pressure.

Although sharp changes in stores are not yet expected, the situation is prompting positive forecasts. For instance, NVIDIA recently announced a 10–15% price increase on graphics cards due to new costs. The tariff reduction has the potential to curb further growth and even stabilize the market.

While this is only temporary relief, it could slow down the rising cost of components, improve their availability, and add predictability to supply chains. For those in the market for GPUs, laptops, and other parts, this is a chance to buy hardware without a markup.

If negotiations lead to a permanent agreement, the PC market will get a much-needed breather.
