Journalists Criticize Elden Ring on Switch 2: Frame Rate Drops and Control Issues
Elden Ring has become one of the most prominent games in recent years. Now, the project is being prepared for release on Switch 2 in the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition.
Although there are no official gameplay footage yet, a demonstration took place at Gamescom. And the first reviews were unexpectedly negative.
According to IGN, the game showed poor performance during tests in portable mode. In open locations like Limgrave, noticeable frame rate drops occurred, especially when turning the camera. As a result, exploring the world, which was originally impressive in its scale and dynamics, looked problematic on Switch 2 and caused disappointment.
Journalists also noted the inconvenient button layout. The controls felt unintuitive, which complicated battles and made exploration more difficult.
The developers did not allow recording gameplay — probably due to the quality of the current version. The release of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 is scheduled for 2025. Publisher Bandai Namco still has time to optimize the game.
