Photographer Egor Filatov conducted an unusual photoshoot in a real swamp, inspired by "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." Cosplayers Ivan Kondrashin and Daria Sherman embodied the characters of Geralt of Rivia and the Water Hag.
The plot is based on a grim story from Velen, where children began to disappear in villages located in the swamps. The Witcher Geralt took a contract to investigate and encountered the Water Hag, who turned out to be the culprit behind the kidnappings.
The photographs captured their decisive battle, full of tension and drama. Yulia and Olga Kondrashina also participated in the shoot, playing the roles of the kidnapped children.
Water hags hunt for living victims, whom they then drag to their lairs to properly season and cook them into dishes. These monsters are partially intelligent, can talk, and sometimes even perform dark rituals.
By the way, in Slavic mythology, the Water Hag (or vodyanikha) is a female spirit of water, often the wife of a vodyanoy (water spirit). She could be either benevolent or hostile to people, but in "The Witcher" her image is reinterpreted and presented as an unequivocally sinister and dangerous monster.
