Monster Hunter Wilds was conceived as Capcom's next big success story — and at first, it seemed to be heading that way. The game launched with a bang, received high scores, and sold a huge number of copies.

In the first three months, sales reached 10 million copies — one of the best results in the series' history.

But Capcom's latest quarterly report shows that player interest has plummeted. Only 477,000 copies have been sold in the last three months. The total came to 10.8 million copies, but the publisher openly admitted that first-quarter sales "fell short of expectations." The company makes no secret of the fact that this raises concerns about the game's future.

The main reasons for the decline include poor optimization of the PC version and the lack of major updates that could have retained players. It is not yet clear whether upcoming patches and new content support will change the situation. But Capcom hints that it will look for ways to restore the project's previous pace. According to them, Monster Hunter Wilds' potential is far from exhausted.
